Amatuer Radio in Phelps County

Phelps County now has a 2 meter repeater available and on the air for use by licensed amatuer radio operators. This unit is an Amatuer Radio Emergency Services (ARES) repeater as well for licensing.

The repeater call is K0PCA and the frequency is 146.895(-) and the PL tone is 123.0

Technician class held in Holdrege is completed

The technician course in Holdrege is now complete and with it brings several new licensed people to the area. Participants were trained on radio procedures and operations, electronic theory and FCC rules. After the course was completed they had to satisfactorily complete the FCC testing, With the morse code requirement being dropped we hope the craft will increase members of a declining hobby.

New amateur radio club in the area

The South Central Nebraska Amateur Radio Club is the name selected by the new area club. Preparations are underway to get the Constitution and Bylaws written and inventorying the needs of the members of the group to get people on the air. The group will meet monthly to start and the officers are as follows:

President- Curtis Tostie (KD0CWX)
Vice-President- Jim Johnson (KD0CWW)
Secretary- Pat Gerdes (KA0SGL)
Treasurer- Myron Bennett (KD0OX)

The group is also holding weekly nets on Sunday evenings at 7:00 P.M. They alternate between the Oxford (146.715) and Holdrege (146.895) Repeaters.
